This research looks at the extremely precarious living conditions imposed on asylum seekers and undocumented migrants in Brussels and in Europe. As a central institution in European migration policies and a platform around which financial interests gravitate, Frontex will be the portal for the research. The project will begin by examining the 'Frontex cosmogony' to interrogate its financial, political and narrative power. Using radical mapping methods, we will draw up a 'microcosmogram' of the actors involved in the criminalisation, militarisation and financialisation of borders, to which will be attached the ecosystem made up of people in exile and what supports them. Within a single representation, we will experiment ways of visualising the making of borders and its consequences . The question of representations also arises in the context of narratives about borders and migration. The project includes a section on narrative and speculative research involving gestures and bodies. The collective imagination of these new narratives will involve experiments in dance, performance and sculpture. Finally, part of the work will be dedicated to disseminating the methods and results of the research. In a transversal way, we will aim to establish a framework for ethical relations with people in exile by giving them a place as actors and political subjects. How can artistic research be used as a practical (administrative, legal) lever in the fight against the welcome crisis?
