In line with Studio Biskt's artistic approach, Interfaces, Interphases aims to develop a formal language focused on the spatial arrangement of modules that combine ceramics and opalescent glass. This project centers on exploring the interactions between these two materials, particularly by experimenting with varying degrees of opacity and opalescence, to discover how they can complement, merge, or contrast with each other.
The project is structured around two main axes. First, it progressively refines techniques that blend clay and glass through a rich and continuous exchange between the studio’s ceramic practices and the advanced material science expertise of a laboratory. Simultaneously, special attention is given to the arrangement of these modules, aiming to create an expressive and coherent formal language.
Collaborating with the scientific community is advantageous due to the technical complexity involved in integrating clay and glass when heated together. This complexity arises from the distinct behaviors of these materials during heating and cooling. Another critical aspect of this collaboration is mastering opalescence, which requires precise temperature control and specific glass compositions that are particularly sensitive to contamination
