Katya Ev will develop a research on The Rite of Spring. This project transposes Stravinsky's original 1913 work to contemporary rave culture. It takes the central idea of rituality, uses institutional critique and a feminist stance as a prism, and transcends the traditional boundaries between 'high' and 'low' culture. The pioneering nature and energy of the Rite, both musically and choreographically, and the power of collective ritual with its link between humans, the earth and the sacred, inspire this research, with the desire to create a contemporary and critical version - in tune with today's cultural phenomena, artistic resources and discourse.
