Pierre Beaubatie, from Limoges in France, began his musical career as a cellist. At the same time, he taught himself to play the piano, and then took practical harmony lessons on the piano during his teenage years. These lessons enabled him to acquire skills in improvisation that were particularly useful in his musical approach. After immersing himself in early music at the Brussels Conservatoire, he went on to study pedagogy. This change of direction opened the door to teaching musical training in academies (Anderlecht,
Molenbeek, Auderghem).
In his teaching practice, Pierre Beaubatie is committed to constantly exploring new methodologies. He makes it a point of honour to develop his courses with each lesson, always seeking to refine his approaches in order to better meet the needs of his students. He is particularly passionate about ludopedagogy, a method based on learning through play, and mastery pedagogy, inspired by Bloom's theory. These two currents have had a profound influence on her teaching style, particularly in her desire to keep students motivated while supporting their artistic and social development.
A fundamental aspect of his teaching is cooperation. Pierre encourages his students to work together, developing collective skills while enriching their individual experience. This collaborative approach strengthens group spirit and stimulates individual creativity. In his musical practice, he also pursues more specialised projects. He is currently working in Hervé Douchy's baroque cello class at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. In this context, he is developing a specific method for cellists to learn ornamentation, as part of a wider project for a baroque cello method. In addition, Pierre taught an ornamentation module in Benoît Laurent's course in 2024, with a particular focus on the works of
Henry Purcell.
